Learn How To Rank High In Google Yahoo & MSN

July 7, 2009

Let’s face it, most site owners have a yearning to understand how to rank high in Google and the other engines. To do that you’ll either be required to learn SEO (search engine optimization) or employ a geek to do it for you.

Search engine optimization sounds like a terrifying thing to learn and while the rabbit hole does go very deep with what seems like infinite complexities, it’s not that difficult to get a hang of the basics.

As it happens the basics are all you require to get your web property ascending up into the topmost positions of the SERPS (search engine results pages) with all the advantages that brings.

Any high ranking site owner will tell you that a prime position on Google can totally flood your website with people all eager to learn what you can offer them. To make this reality we all have to learn how to rank high in Google.

Once you’re at the top of the pile in Google the other search engines commonly follow suit, which is a welcome bonus.

The ins and outs are beyond the scope of this write up but at its most uncomplicated it comes down to two cheif factors.

1. On page factors.

2. Off page factors.

While #1 is important it is the off page work you do which will really boost your rankings. Off page optimization mostly boils down to gaining links from third party web sites.

The engines consider a link from one page to a second as a vote. The more links which point at a page the more popular that page is deemed to be and the SERP position rises. Granted that is a very simplified picture but it’s the fundamentals of ranking.

There are many different types of link. Some deliver the goods much better than others for ranking purposes. The premium links you can bring in are in-context plain text links which have appropriate anchor text. Sound puzzling? It doesn’t have to be.

I’ve run out of rope in this article but if you want more information I’ll be delighted to provide you with a breakdown of your domain for a nominal fee. I’ll suggest keywords you should be targeting and how to gain in-context inbound text links based on those keywords.
