Sapphires are amongst the most popular of gemstones in the United States. The “blue sapphire” tops the list. Known for its medium to deep blue color, and its strong saturation, it is much more affordable than ruby, emerald, or “regular sapphires”.

Turquoise is found in only a few places on earth. Here’s a question for you. Which corner of the world is the world’s largest producer of turquoise? The answer is the southwest United States. This gemstone is prized for its attractive medium blue to greenish blue color.

Some gemstones are classified as organic, while others are classified as inorganic. Do you know which is which? Organic gemstones are those that are produced by living organisms (i.e.: pearls, amber, and coral). Inorganic gemstones are composed of minerals (i.e.: diamonds, rubies, and emeralds).
